Position: EOI FOR GROUND BASED GRAVITY SURVEY (ACQUISTION, PROCESSING AND INTERPRETATION) FOR THE EXPLORATION OF CHROMITE IN BLOCK-D, SAKHAKOT & BLOCK-B, KOCHIAN, MALAKAND

Specifications / Requirements:

  1. TERMS OF REFERENCE (TORs):

The Chromite Block-D, covering an area of 464 acres (1.98 sq. km) in Sakhakot–Dargai, and Block-B, covering an area of 339 acres (1.38 sq. km) in Kochian, Batkhela, District Malakand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, have been granted to PMDC under 30-year Mining Leases (MLs). As no prior investigations have been conducted to evaluate the mineral potential of these blocks, PMDC intends to initiate a systematic exploration program.

The study areas lie within a geologically favorable mafic–ultramafic terrain historically associated with chromite mineralization. These blocks are part of the Dargai–Harichand Ultramafic Complex, also referred to as the Dargai Ophiolitic Complex, a tectonically emplaced suite of ultramafic rocks representing remnants of oceanic lithosphere and upper mantle rocks. This setting is highly prospective for Alpine-type podiform chromite deposits, along with the occurrence of metals such as nickel, cobalt, platinum group elements (PGEs), and gold. The lithological assemblage includes serpentinized peridotites, dunite, and associated mafic intrusive rocks, which are conducive to hosting mineralized zones. Regional mapping and reconnaissance investigations indicate alteration zones and structural controls that enhance the potential for subsurface mineralization. Given the complex tectonic history and mineralogical diversity, the area is considered suitable for geophysical surveys such as gravity surveys to delineate subsurface anomalies, structural features, and alteration zones that can guide future exploration, including scout drilling and resource estimation. Preliminary reconnaissance investigations, including geological mapping and geochemical sampling, have already been carried out.

To take this work forward, PMDC seeks the services of a qualified firm/company with proven expertise in gravity geophysical surveys for chromite deposits, specifically in data acquisition, processing, and interpretation within ophiolitic complexes.

The project aims to generate a systematic database of chromite ore and associated metals for the documented assessment of mineable reserves and to prepare a bankable document for the mining, processing, and development of the presently unknown reserves through exploration under the ongoing project.

Scope of Work

Scope of Work

The scope of work shall comprise the systematic planning, execution, processing, and interpretation of a gravity survey over designated target zones for chromite exploration, in accordance with the contractual requirements. The work shall include detailed 2D and 3D models to understand the spatial distribution of chromite mineralization in sub-surface. Based on the interpretation of gravity anomalies and their correlation with available geological and geochemical data, priority drilling targets should be delineated. A comprehensive technical report shall be submitted documenting the survey methodology, field data acquisition, corrections applied, data processing, quality control, interpretation, gravity anomaly maps, 2D and 3D models, identified targets, interpretational limitations, and prioritized drilling recommendations.

5. Timeline

The geophysical survey and final reporting shall be completed within the contractually agreed-upon period. Non-completion of the job in the agreed time will lead to a penalty as defined in the commercial terms of the contract.

6. Qualifications and Experience

The geophysical service provider (Firm/Company/Consultant) shall possess the following general qualifications:

  • Must have an adequate number of experienced professionals in geology and geophysics (M.Sc. or higher) on staff.
  • Firm shall possess proven years of relevant experience in geophysical data acquisition, processing, and interpretations, such as in IP, ERT, Mag, Gravity etc, for metallic mineral exploration.
  • Have a proven track record of providing geophysical services in relevant mineral exploration projects.

7. Compliance

The Service Provider shall comply with all best exploration practices, applicable laws, regulations, and mineral exploration standards as per NI 43-101, JORC or other international accredited standards.

8. Deliverables

Deliverables

1. Daily progress report (DPR) including details of field activity, instrument readings, station locations etc and field progress.

2. Georeferenced raw data and maps with coordinates, date/time, elevation and raw gravimeter values and final report according as per industry standards.

3. Records and details of all corrections applied with data rasters both before and after application of correction.

4. Subsurface density models to delineate and characterize subsurface anomalies.

5. Interpretation of different lithological units based on density contrast among different litho-units.

6. Delineation of priority drilling targets with precise collar coordinates, drilling azimuths, inclinations (dip), and recommended target depths.

9. Monitoring and Reporting:

PMDC will monitor the Service Provider's performance throughout the engagement. Deliverables will be subject to review and approval by PMDC’s oversight team to ensure compliance with the contract terms and international standards.

10. Miscellaneous Arrangements:

Service provider will be responsible for arranging all required tools, equipment, testing, reports, reperformance/redo, security, travelling, accommodation and approvals required to complete the deliverables.

11. Confidentiality

All project data and outputs shall remain the property of PMDC. The firm shall maintain strict confidentiality and shall not disclose or use any project information for any purpose other than completion of this assignment.
